Another difference between oil and acrylic paints is the versatility offered by acrylic paints. Acrylic paints are more often used in mixed media, using pastels, felt-tip pens (or any other graphic material) over a dried acrylic painted surface. It is possible to add various fillers to acrylic - sand, rice and so on, to give texture and relief. You should not mix artistic paints from a tube with industrial paints: these paints have different pigment quality, different consistency. Do not mix acrylic paints from different manufacturers - for the same reasons.
